Four competent solo artists, songwriters and producers formed the hip-hop group Abstrakt in 2005. More of a project based collective, their focus fell mainly on the studio; writing and producing classy, conscious hip-hop with unique beats and thought provoking lyrics.

The name of the game for Abstrakt was collaboration, and its here that Duane started to really broaden his horizons as a producer and songwriter, finding a love for writing beats and melodic hip hop. Although Abstrakt remained unsigned and unreleased, they produced a wealth of material during their time together and have not written off future ventures.

Their achievements include having several of their songs synced on the pioneering M-Net TV series “Innocent Times”, instrumental beats being synced on Miss Teen SA 2007 and an invitation from Def Jam U.K. to produce work in London.

Abstrakt were also very concerned with charity, and with their musical contribution towards the Salvation Army’s “Hark” concert held at Theatre On The Square, they helped to raise over R 150 000 for the Strathyre home for abused girls, which went towards schoolbooks and furniture.
