(Alternative Rock)

Sublemon was a young alt rock band founded by Duane Arthur. It ran from 1994 to 1998. During it’s existence Sublemon remained unsigned, yet achieved great cult (and commercial) success. They were the first South African band to be aired on MTV, they performed on most of SA’s major stages and festivals, shared the stage with most of SA’s top acts at the time, including Springbok Nude Girls, Just Jinjer, Sugardrive, Boo and many more…

They funded their own national tour; placed 3rd in the National Battle Of The Bands competition; had a song published on National Geographic for the Londolozi “Hits” TV insert, and had a #1 hit single “Poppin” on 5fm’s Modern Rock Chart for four weeks running. All of this before any of the members had even left high school!

Sublemon were:

Duane Arthur: Vocals, Guitar & Alto Saxophone
